I have had the privilege of working in the cabinet business since 1976. When I was a kid I was always building things out of scrap wood - club houses, bridges, miniature kitchen cabinets for doll houses and even a cat house (I figured dogs have one, why not cats? The cats didn't think much of it - typical!). I remember my dad always complaining about missing tools and nails disappearing.

I apprenticed when I was 20 for four years and then, when the shop closed down I had to make my own way. The road I took from there gave me exposure to the entire cabinet industry and I have worked designing and selling factory cabinetry (thousands of kitchens) and also taught design and sales for major manufacturers. I've worked hand-in-hand with home builders and on many, many remodeling jobs, new homes and commercial jobs. These 40 years of experience have given me an extensive background in most phases of the construction business which I feel is a humbling privilege. In 2008 I started The Cabinet Guy LLC, a small custom cabinet shop in Colorado Springs with 8 employees.

I love to design cabinetry and environments for clients that are both practical and beautiful and that reflect the personal tastes and desires of the homeowner. Being both a designer and actually building the product has been very rewarding for me and my greatest pleasure is when I see my clients smiling when the job is completed. I started this blog as a way to communicate what I have learned to as many people as possible as my way of saying thanks for the wonderful opportunity life gave me. Enjoy! And if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.
